 Automobiles

This week Honda decided to stop making Accord Hybrid cars because not many people were buying it. People did not think that at a $31,000 price, 28 miles per gallon was a good deal when they could buy Honda Civic Hybrid for approximately $8,000 less and drive over 20 miles per gallon more than Accord Hybrid.  At $3.50 a gallon of gas, you could drive Honda Civic for almost 50 miles.  Honda will continue to sell the Civic Hybrids. Does this not make more business sense to you?

Computers and Electronics

Microsoft recently introduced a computer called Microsoft Surface™.  Think of this computer as a center table in your family room.  This table-top computer has a touch-screen which can be used by multiple people at the same time.  It allows you to do similar things that you can do from your desktop computer.  Now isn’t that a great idea?  Think of the new possibilities of using the computers.

Food and Drinks

General Mills, which makes Cheerios, Chex and Lucky Charms, said that it will raise cereal prices in June, 2007.  Kellogg, which makes Frosted Flakes, Pop-Tarts, Nutri-Grains, and Rice Crispies, increased prices on select cereal brands in September 2006.

The price increase is because of the higher costs of items that are used to make cereal, such as, grains, cocoa, oil and energy.  To keep the price same, companies might reduce the package size.  So check out the prices and do your math to compare the price in dollar per ounce?

Coca-Cola said that it has agreed to reduce the quantity of water used to produce beverages.   It will recycle water used in producing these beverages.  This is great news for the environment.  More than 1 billion people in the world do not have clean drinking water.  In 2006, Coca-Cola used 290 billion liters of water for to produce beverages.

Daily Stuff

Wal-Mart said that it will reduce the number of stores to cut its cost.  Wal-Mart is concerned that it has opened too many stores in a short period of time which has caused the costs to go up.  Today, Wal-Mart employs more than 1.8 million people worldwide and nearly 6,500 stores and wholesale clubs across 14 countries. Every week 176 million customer visit these stores.  Chances are that there is one of the stores near you within 25 miles.
